About

Who am I?

Hi! I'm Jessica Barter.

I have a habit of following interesting problems, which is probably why my résumé looks like it belongs to four different people.

I started out as an illustrator, moved into fashion and costume design, and somehow found my way into branding, UI/UX, investor decks, packaging, product photography, and everything in between. There was never a master plan. I just kept saying yes to projects that made me curious.

Turns out, interesting problems rarely care about job titles.

Over time, I noticed something: most companies build their brand in pieces. One person designs the logo, another builds the website, someone else creates the pitch deck, and another handles the packaging. Everyone might do great work, but when no one is looking at the whole picture, the story can start to feel disconnected.

That's the problem I love solving.

Most great ideas don't fail because they're bad. They fail because they don't look believable yet. The product might be incredible, but if every touchpoint tells a slightly different story, people feel the disconnect.

I like making everything feel like it came from the same brain.

Over the last decade, I've worked with founders pitching investors, companies reinventing themselves, entertainment studios, healthcare brands, fashion labels, and businesses that don't fit neatly into a category. Different industries, different challenges, but usually the same need: someone who can see the whole picture.

I keep my client list small because I like working closely with the people I work with. It gives us room to ask better questions, explore better ideas, and obsess over the details that make the difference.

I'm still following interesting problems.

If you have one, I'd love to hear about it.
